AEA Update: 10/06/23 message from Lenny

Good Friday!

I am sure most of you are enjoying a PD Day and I truly hope whatever you are doing is something you are finding rewarding AND useful!! We have some great news for you about opportunities for you to connect with other Alternative Educators in the State of Maine!

At last year's well attended Spring Conference your feedback was overwhelming that you are wanting more time and opportunities to have conversations with other Alternative Educators throughout the state of Maine. As an Association we want to make sure we honor your requests and we are extremely excited to announce the following two possibilities for you.

Monthly "Coffee Hours" - We will be offering a monthly Google Meet where you can join in an open forum to discuss any issue/questions you might have or one's that the host bring to the table. For those of you who remember this was done during the early Covid times and was found to be very useful to those who attended. The first session will be October 11th from 2:30-3:30 and will be hosted by Chris Betts - Ellsworth HS and Cami Carter - Brewer Alternative Ed. Here is the link to the meeting:

Fall Conference - The AEA of Maine is also excited to announce a Fall Conference on November 9th at the University of Maine Augusta from 9:30-1:30 with the theme "Circle Up!" Again we have heard from you about wanting more time to talk to each other about those subjects that matter to you. The Fall Conference will be based on Circle Discussions at Tables with different themes, where you can sit and have conversations with your colleagues about those topics you are most interested in. This is an Excellent opportunity for you to Network with others who do the unique work we all do in Alternative Education.
